Fiona Lummis was twintig jaar lang verbonden als danser bij het Nederland Dans Theater (1981-2001). Na te zijn afgestudeerd aan de Elmhurst School of Dance en The Rambert School in Engeland, heeft ze ook een Pilates onderwijs certificaat van B.A.S.I. (Body Arts and Science International). Ze was te zien in meer dan 15 creaties van Jiří Kylián, en in een tal van creaties van Hans Van Manen, Nacho Duato, Ohad Naharin en Mats Ek. Ze danste rollen in de hedendaagse balletten van William Forsythe, Jerome Robbins, Lar Lubovitch, Glen Tetley en nog vele anderen.

In 1992 ontving ze de “Gouden Theaterdans Prijs” voor haar prestaties in William Forsythe “Steptext”, en in 2000 werd ze bekroond met de “Oeuvreprijs” als erkenning voor haar carrière in Nederland. Fiona is te zien op veel van de “Arthaus” films van Kylián’s balletten, o.a. de “Black and White Ballets” en “Kaguyahime”. Ze is ook te zien in 8 opnames van de balletten van Hans van Manen in zijn “Master of Movement” dvd-collectie, en wordt erkend als een van zijn Muzen.

Fiona werkt nauw samen met de Kylián en van Manen stichting om werken van Jiří Kylián en Hans van Manen in te studeren op dansacademies en balletgezelschappen in Europa en de VS.

Fiona Lummis was a dancer for twenty years with Netherlands Dance Theater (1981-2001). Having graduated from the Elmhurst School of Dance and The Rambert School in England, she also has a comprehensive Pilates teaching certificate from B.A.S.I. (Body Arts and Science International). Ms. Lummis was featured in over 15 creations by Jiří Kylián, and in numerous creations by Hans Van Manen, Nacho Duato, Ohad Naharin and Mats Ek among others, She danced featured roles in contemporary ballets by William Forsythe, Jerome Robbins, Lar Lubovitch and Glen Tetley and many more. 

In 1992 she received the Gouden Theaterdans Prijs for her performances in Williams Forsythes Steptext and in 2000 was awarded the Oeuvreprijs in recognition of her career in The Netherlands. Fiona can be seen on many of the Arthaus films of Kyliáns ballets, including the Black and White Ballets and Kaguyahime. She is also featured in 8 recordings of Hans Van Manens ballets in his Master of Movement DVD collection, and is recognized as one of his Muses.

Ms Lummis works closely with the Kylián and Van Manen foundations teaching Jiří Kylián and Hans Van Manen repertoire in colleges, schools and companies in the US and Europe. She is presently on the faculty of the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and is a Visiting Artist at USC (University of Southern California).
